A Fully Automatic Pearson Case Erector Rated to 35 Cases per Minute

Pearson Packaging Systems has built case handling equipment out of Spokane, Washington for close to seventy years. Their erectors are a common sight on food and beverage, personal care, household chemical, and warehouse distribution lines. The CE35 is the mid-speed workhorse of that family. This one is the hot glue configuration, factory rated to 35 cases per minute, and it is set up for right-hand RSC and HSC cases.

What lets it hold that rate is the way it forms. Instead of dropping cases vertically, the CE35 works horizontally. Dual opposed vacuum cups pull the blank open from both sides. Synchronized flight lugs then carry it square through folding and gluing. The result is a consistently square case at discharge, which is what keeps a downstream packer from fighting the box at speed.

Case Styles and Size Range on This Used Case Erector

Minimum erected case size is 8.75″ L x 5″ W x 3.5″ depth, with 6″ open depth. Maximum is 23.5″ L x 16″ W x 18.5″ depth, with 21″ open depth. That range is wide enough to cover several SKUs on one machine, even when case footprints differ. Changeover between sizes is manual and hand-set, so build that setup time into your schedule and it won’t catch you out.

The 108″ horizontal blank magazine holds a lot of corrugate. As a result, an operator reloads far less often across a long shift. Erected cases discharge at 32″, which is a standard height, so the machine ties into most existing conveyor without a transition.

Before you buy any used case erector, confirm your case hand. Stand the flat blank in front of you with the bottom flap pointing down. The larger panel then tells you which hand you are running. This machine is configured right-hand.

Controls, Hot Glue System, and Components

The control package is Allen-Bradley throughout. It runs a CompactLogix PLC, a PanelView 600 Plus HMI, and a PowerFlex 4 variable speed drive. On a used machine, that counts for more than it would on a new one. Because these are mainstream platforms, any competent controls tech can work in them. So you aren’t chasing proprietary software or hunting for someone who has seen this particular processor before.

Sealing runs on a Nordson ProBlue 10, one of the most widely supported hot melt systems in the industry. Hoses, guns, and filters therefore remain ordinary shelf items rather than a scavenger hunt.

The safety package and operator interface are complete and intact. The machine has interlocked access doors, a stack light for line-of-sight status, and an operator panel with E-stop. It runs on 460 volt, 3 phase, 60 Hz power at 20.0 FLA.

A new Pearson case erector carries a standard lead time of ten to eleven weeks. That clock doesn’t start until the PO is accepted. This machine, however, is already built and already configured.
