Hot Glue Sealing and Case Handling on This Used Case Erector

The machine forms RSC and HSC cases, and it seals them with hot melt adhesive rather than tape. Glue is generally the better choice for heavier contents. An adhesive bond holds under load, and it also holds in cold storage where tape can lose its grip. Once you are into real volume, it also costs less per case.

Minimum erected case size is 8.75″ L x 5″ W x 5.625″ H. Maximum is 23.5″ L x 16″ W x 18.5″ H. Between them, that covers most standard shippers, from a small carton up to a full bulk case. Erected cases discharge at 34″, a common working height that lines up with most existing takeaway conveyor.

Controls, Components, and Power Requirements

Controls are Allen-Bradley throughout: a MicroLogix PLC, a PanelView Plus 600 HMI, and a PowerFlex variable frequency drive. MicroLogix is among the most widely deployed control platforms in North American industry. Its programming environment is therefore familiar to nearly every controls tech in the country, and fault-finding on it is direct. That keeps routine service in the hands of your own maintenance group.

Sealing runs on a Nordson ProBlue 10 tank melter, so hoses, guns, and filters stay easy to source. The operator control panel includes an E-stop. The machine runs on 460 volt, 3 phase, 60 Hz power at 20.0 FLA, and it sits on six leveler legs. Its overall footprint is 194″ L x 84″ W x 84″ H at 3,400 lbs.

Hand-erecting and taping cases costs more than most plants count. Labor is the obvious part. Inconsistent squareness and cases that fail in transit add up just as fast, though, and an automatic erector closes that gap quickly at used-machine pricing.
