A Two Stage APV Gaulin Homogenizer Built in 2020

The Gaulin name goes back more than a century in homogenizing, and it has been part of the APV line for decades. APV now sits inside ITT Flow Technologies, which closed its acquisition of SPX FLOW in March 2026. Parts and factory service for these machines carry on under that ownership, so the support path is intact.

This G5-3.0PX was built in 2020, so it is a young machine by homogenizer standards. It is a three plunger, two stage unit rated from 300 to 850 liters per hour at pressures up to 210 bar, or 3,045 psi.

What Two Stage Homogenizing Gives You

A homogenizer drives product through a narrow gap under extreme pressure. Shear, turbulence, and cavitation then break fat globules and particles down to a fraction of their original size. That is what keeps cream from separating and gives plant milks, sauces, and emulsions a stable, uniform body.

The second stage is what separates this machine from a single stage homogenizer. Freshly broken globules tend to clump back together the moment the first valve releases them. So a second valve, running at a low back pressure of roughly ten percent of the total, breaks those clusters apart again. Dairy processors depend on it, and so does anyone whose product has to hold its emulsion through a shelf life.

Capacity, Pressure, and Poppet Valve Construction

The 300 to 850 liter per hour range works out to roughly 80 to 225 gallons per hour. That range therefore suits pilot plants, R&D groups, craft dairies, and specialty producers running nutraceuticals, cosmetics, or plant-based beverages in small batches. A 7.5 HP motor wired for 230/460 volt service drives the three plungers.

Pressure tops out at 210 bar. Most dairy work happens well below that ceiling, so the extra headroom is there for products that need harder processing, including fine emulsions and some plant protein beverages.

The pump valves, meanwhile, are poppet style. Poppets seat positively under high pressure duty, and they also tolerate products carrying some particulate better than ball valves do. They are rebuildable as well, which counts for a lot on a wear part that sees every liter you run.

What You Get in a Used Gaulin Homogenizer

A homogenizer is built around a heavy forged block and a crankcase that will outlast the plant it sits in. But the parts that actually wear are plungers, packings, valves, and seats. Every one of those is a serviceable, replaceable item. That is why a used Gaulin homogenizer with a known history is such a sound purchase.

A 2020 build also puts this one close to current production. You get a recent machine with a supported parts path, at used equipment pricing, and without the lead time that comes with ordering new.

CWR Resources supplies used homogenizers, processing equipment, and complete lines to buyers throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. To talk through your product, your throughput, and the pressure you need, get in touch with our machinery experts or call 630-262-9595.
